A review of Augusta Distillery Buckner's 10-Year Single Barrel Bourbon Barrel. Selected by Seelbach's, this bottle of Buckner’s Single Barrel Aged ten years is a limited edition bourbon that has been aged for a full ten years in new, charred oak barrels. Detailed Tasting Notes

Nose Review - Rating: 80

The nose features rhubarb, oak, and leather. Slight mint, cola, and dried unsweetened cherries (very mild). Slight ethanol. It took me a while to identify that acidic grapefruit and strawberry aroma mix typically associated with Rhubarb...a flavor I don't think I have ever used in describing bourbon.

Palate Review - Rating: 83

Buckner's 10-year Single Barrel Bourbon has an intriguing and complex flavor profile of dark chocolate, mint, tobacco, and cola. Very dry. Some sweetness in the form of brown sugar starts to reveal itself after a while. I like bourbons that are a little more sweet/dry balanced, and Buckner's 10-year Single Barrel Bourbon could use a little more honey or brown sugar sweetness to balance out its dry nature. No doubt, careful attention to detail has allowed Augusta Distillery to produce this smooth and flavorful product.

Finish Review - Rating: 82

The finish of Augusta Distillery Buckner's 10-Year Single Barrel Bourbon is dry initially but turns mildly sweet after a few sips. Nice radiating heat. Same notes on the finish as the palate.

Uniqueness Review - Rating: 84

I have given this extra points because of the rhubarb aroma in the nose. The profile overall is fairly unique, but takes some time getting used to.

Value Review - Rating: 77

Unfortunately, value is where Augusta Distillery Buckner’s Single Barrel Aged 10 years struggles. At an MSRP of $149.99, I expected more. It's good, but something is missing that keeps it from being in this price bracket.

Smell IS taste. I am just a guy who has been hit with the bourbon bug and who has come to the conclusion that life is too short to drink average tasting bourbons. Go Gators!
