83 Highly Rated Bourbon General Review of Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Premium Whiskey, Batch 121 Proof, Barrel 1728

The wait was worth it. This Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Premium Whiskey, my first foray into the world of Uncle Nearest, was a long-anticipated release in Georgia, where I reside. I opted to skip the 100-proof whiskeys, and this one, at 121 proof, did not disappoint!

Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Premium Whiskey Review

Interestingly, I was unaware of the whiskey until a bourbon buddy of mine turned me onto it and told me I needed to buy it. He was on the money.

Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Premium Whiskey is an excellent traditional bourbon. Uncle Nearest does not refer to this Tennessee Whiskey as bourbon, but this barrel has a fantastic conventional bourbon profile. It initially runs only a bit ethanolly on the nose and a little hot on the palate. However, there are solid and rich traditional bourbon notes!!!

Nose

The nose of Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Premium Whiskey features a strong toffee and mild molasses mix, with a little bit of cherry cola, oak, and brown sugar. It is simple yet very inviting and warm.

Palate

The palate reflects the nose, but the oak is more evident. It has buttery caramel and oak notes, with a teeny bit of cherry cola. The baking spices (white pepper and cinnamon) balance it out on the mid-palate.

Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Premium Whiskey is definitely for the bourbon purist. It's a winner!

Smell IS taste. I am just a guy who has been hit with the bourbon bug and who has come to the conclusion that life is too short to drink average tasting bourbons. Go Gators!
