Bourbon is an American whiskey made from corn and containing at least 51% of this grain. These spirits must be aged in new oak barrels beginning with an alcohol content of no more than 62.5% (125 proof). Adding flavors or food colors to the whiskey is forbidden if you want to call the product Bourbon.
