A doubler is a large copper still that increases the purity and improves the taste of what is being distilled (the distillate). It is used for a second distillation within the same circuit as the first. It gets rid of the impurities and improves the distillate's concentration, producing a higher alcohol percentage. Another name for a doubler is "thumper."
