Oxidation

Oxidation is a general term that explains the gradual process by which a whiskey in a bottle starts to deteriorate in quality immediately after removing the bottle's lid. The deterioration is mainly due to exposure to oxygen, leading to the transfer of electrons between oxygen and molecules in the whiskey, thus affecting the taste and aroma over time, typically years.
