Detailed Tasting Notes

Nose Review - Rating: 82

Immediately on the nose of Bespoken Spirits Straight Bourbon, I get a little bit of molasses and ethanol to begin. Some complex dark raisin notes peak through. Roasted nuts. However, all of these notes are mild. There’s a richness to the aroma, a thickness, and even some sweetness.

Palate Review - Rating: 78

This is my second pour of this bottle of Bespoken Spirits Straight Bourbon. The first time I was just so taken back by the uniqueness of this tasting experience that I wanted to wait before I reviewed it.

I’m getting almost a black tea combined with a cocoa nuttiness this time. Black pepper and tobacco; a very earthy and complex bourbon. The char is evident too, but there isn’t quite enough sweetness to compliment all of these dark flavors.

This is unique, and I am still trying to process it after my second tasting. The tastings were a couple of weeks apart. Sometimes, something can be unique and complex but not necessarily great tasting. In the end, does it taste good? Unfortunately, all this complexity and uniqueness don't create a great taste, only good.

Finish Review - Rating: 84

The finish has a moderate warmth that radiates throughout the chest. Very nice finish.

Uniqueness Review - Rating: 87

The uniqueness of this tasting experience is evident, but in the end, what you want is something that tastes good.

Value Review - Rating: 79

At $59.99 it is priced where it should be.

Smell IS taste. I am just a guy who has been hit with the bourbon bug and who has come to the conclusion that life is too short to drink average tasting bourbons. Go Gators!
