Nose
Soft notes of rhubarb and strawberry vanilla cream rise first, followed by a warm spicy undercurrent. Hints of woody burnt caramel and Dr Pepper add depth, alongside vanilla spice potpourri and toasted marshmallow.
Palate
Rich, oily, and full-bodied. It opens with a burst of sweetness—honey layered with baking spices like cinnamon, clove, and black pepper. Just when the sweetness feels like it might become overwhelming, the spice surges forward with a pleasant ethanol warmth that’s assertive but never harsh. The contrast is striking. The viscosity is remarkable—one of the thickest, most syrupy pours I’ve had in quite some time. Absolutely fantastic texture.
Finish
The baking spices soften slightly but linger seemingly forever. The oiliness carries through the finish, while the sweetness quietly remains underneath the spice—an unusual and very satisfying balance.
At an MSRP of $169, this isn’t a casual purchase. But in a market where many bottles at this price point fall short, this one truly delivers.
One of the best pours I’ve had so far this year, as of May 2025, and an early contender for Whiskey of the Year. I’m very curious to see how this one opens up with a little more time in the bottle.
