Nevada Distilling Company has made a solid name in the American Whiskey market over the past few years. They initially released Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon Whiskey in 2019. I remember visiting a popular liquor store over a year ago and a customer advising me to try Smoke Wagon. This was my first introduction to their products.
A Quick Review
Initially, there is a slight, sweet fruitiness on the nose of Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon with an almost imperceptible undercurrent of alcohol. After a little while, a moderate black pepper spice aroma that is a little nutty dominates.
I have to admit that I am writing this review after about half of the bottle is finished. Frankly, I didn't enjoy Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon the first few times around; however, it tastes sweeter than I remember. I am glad I stuck to my 3-taste rule. The viscosity is not heavy, but it is thicker than I remember. It's somewhat buttery with a salted caramel flavor. The black pepper spice gets stronger and stronger on the palate the longer you sip and reflects the nose.
The finish is exceptionally short with a bit of spicy kick.
Overall it is a nice drinking experience.
