86 Highly Rated Bourbon General Review of Ry3 Cask Strength Toasted Barrel, Batch Toast 13

Ry3 Cask Strength Rye Toasted

Nose

Initially, on the nose of Ry3 Cask Strength Rye Toasted Toast 13, I get dark brown sugar, dark berries, and a moderate amount of ethanol. The smell is creamy, fruity, and leathery simultaneously, and the ethanol subsides after a while. The rye's presence is light, but the rye's spiciness builds as you get deeper into the tasting. Once again, I am also getting a lot of dark berry aromas and marshmallows. All of this before I took the first sip. This is a very enjoyable nosing.

Palate

Oh my, this is oily and dense. Wow! Syrupy caramel pralines blended perfectly with toasted char. This is fantastic. I'm not going to lie; my toes curled slightly during this tasting experience. Dark, dark cherries, spice, and toast. What I find interesting about the Ry3 Cask Strength Rye Toasted Toast 13 is that the rye profile is subtle. These other notes and flavors tend to dominate. That's the case with this Toasted barrel finish, the Madeira cask finish, and the Cigar finish.

Finish

Some sweetness stays on the finish of Ry3 Cask Strength Rye Toasted Toast 13, but it is balanced with leathery oak and char. The heat of the finish is relatively short, but the flavor of the finish is lengthy.

Smell IS taste. I am just a guy who has been hit with the bourbon bug and who has come to the conclusion that life is too short to drink average tasting bourbons. Go Gators!
