Union Horse Distilling Co. Reunion Straight Rye Whiskey Review

Nose

The nose of Union Horse Distilling Co. Reunion Straight Rye Whiskey started interestingly with light brown sugar, virtually no ethanol, and cinnamon spice. A tiny bit of apple as well. Mild cinnamon, rye spice, and apple. If this whiskey sits in the glass for a while, you will get more robust honey notes mixed with the rye.

Palate

On the first sip, the rye spice is bold, and once it hits the mid-palate, it becomes very minty. Union Horse Distilling Co. Reunion Straight Rye Whiskey has the punch of a 121.4 proof barrel-strength rye whiskey. Make no mistake: this is a rye-drinker's rye with a bit of honey sweetness and white pepper spice.

Finish

Cinnamon, white pepper, and rye on the dry finish.

Smell IS taste. I am just a guy who has been hit with the bourbon bug and who has come to the conclusion that life is too short to drink average tasting bourbons. Go Gators!
